Articulation Philosophy
To kick things off, Caleb addresses what articulation is and what the tongue's purpose is when articulating. As he reminds us, airflow is the basis for all sound production!
Practicing Articulation
Caleb starts by addressing the value of practicing without articulation. He then goes through a variety of structured ways we can work on tongue attacks, flow, multiple tonguing, and more.
Common Pitfalls in Articulation
The trumpet is not an easy instrument. Students and professionals alike run into various roadblocks throughout their careers. In this lesson, Caleb Hudson shares some of his strategies for working through scooping, strain, sagging in the low register, hesitation, and throat involvement. Additionally, he discusses how to implement these new exercises into practice sessions successfully.
